Learn how to configure and use Kitikiti HRM

by Usamah Jamaludin

In a nutshell, setting up your HRM can be divided into two configuration tasks. Once those two are done, your shiny HRM is ready to use!

First part is the company level configuration. Most of the time, this is a one-time thing. For example, you need to define what leave types your company offers. Or what expense types are available for your employees to claim against. Or most importantly, the pay run frequency (monthly vs biweekly?), and the additional pay components for earnings / deductions.

Once all that is set, we move into the second part - employee level configuration. For example, from time to time we would have new employees, outgoing employees and employees with changes to their pay, leave entitlements and biodata.

So how do we create new employees? How to set the base pay for the new employees? What are his / her specific leave benefits? Where do we setup his / her personal details such as bank account number and ID(s)?

Once the employees are properly configured, we can then get into the operational mode of daily Kitikiti HRM usage by creating HR documents such as pay runs (which includes pay slips), leave applications and expense reports.

To summarize it off - here's the big picture

HRM configuration flow

  • Company HRM configuration determines company-wide HR policies, which becomes the default values for,
    • Employee HRM configuration. Which can be further customized, and determines employee-specific HR customization, which determines,
      • How employees are compensated (pay slips), what leave types they can apply for (leave applications) and what expenses they can submit claims for (expense reports)

You only need to get yourself acquainted with these two configuration sections plus the day-to-day Kitikiti HRM usage, and you should be good to go!
